Dr. Strohmaier provides psychotherapy to adults with a particular focus on individuals with high pressure careers and those struggling to navigate work-life balance. She also has significant experience treating social phobia and other anxiety disorders, as well as depression, and she utilizes a variety of evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mind-body techniques.

Dr. Strohmaier uses research-based interventions to help people meet their health and wellness goals. The American Diabetes Association has listed Dr. Strohmaier in their mental health directory due to her specialized training and competence treating people with diabetes mellitus. Additional areas of expertise include insomnia, obesity, and pre-surgical psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery, organ transplant, and spinal cord stimulator implantation.

Individual Therapy
Intake Assessment + 45-minute therapy sessions
What to Expect
Dr. Strohmaier specializes in individual psychotherapy with adults navigating high pressure careers, striving for greater work-life balance, and struggling with “Imposter Syndrome.” She has additional expertise treating social phobia and other anxiety disorders, and has significant experience treating depression and trauma-related psychological symptoms.
The EnCompass approach to individual therapy integrates empirically-supported treatments with a recognition of each client’s unique life circumstances and culture. Individual therapy is goal-oriented and present-focused, typically consisting of 12 - 16 psychotherapy sessions, with modifications made based on each individual client’s needs. Goals are developed collaboratively after an initial intake session.

What to Expect
Dr. Strohmaier has specialized training in Health Psychology, including significant experience in the treatment and management of insomnia, diabetes mellitus, and obesity/overweight. She also offers psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulator implantation, and organ transplant.
The EnCompass approach to addressing health conditions is grounded in the best science regarding behavior change. It also involves a thorough exploration and integration of unique individual factors contributing to the development, exacerbation, and management of health conditions. Whereas most clients benefit substantially in 6 - 10 brief sessions, EnCompass utilizes a flexible approach to ensure the proper amount of sessions to meet each client’s needs. Pre-surgical evaluations typically require a time commitment by the client of approximately one half-day and involve a clinical interview and psychological testing.
Forensic Assessment
What to Expect
Dr. Strohmaier trained at one of the nation’s top doctoral programs for forensic psychology. In addition to her extensive education and training in forensic mental heath assessment (FMHA) and psycho-legal issues, she has operated a forensic assessment private practice since 2018. She is retained by Courts, attorneys, employers, and individual clients to conduct various types of FMHA. Dr. Strohmaier provides competence to proceed and criminal responsibility (insanity) evaluations for criminal cases. She also offers independent medical examinations, fitness for duty, and pre-employment evaluations for civil matters.
The EnCompass approach to FMHA is anchored in the standards and best practices outlined by the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology. EnCompass utilizes a functional-contextual approach to FMHA that is sensitive to the narrow legal question(s), relevant abilities of the examinee, and specific context pertaining to each unique evaluation. An FMHA typically requires a clinical interview, psychological testing, extensive records review, and collateral interview. There is significant variability in time commitment depending on the nature of the referral. Dr. Strohmaier has provided wellness and stress management trainings and seminars within her role as a staff psychologist at Hennepin Healthcare and as an external consultant to various small and large organizations. She provides specific trainings to medical providers to improve their ability to work with challenging patients and frequently consults with attorneys on themes pertaining to communicating with difficult clients and other psycho-legal matters.
